Grammar School Drama
Let’s learn onstage! Grammar school is a perfect time to embrace creativity and confidence while exploring in a performance setting. In Grammar School Drama your scholar will be introduced to the basic concepts and vocabulary of theater while also gaining the experience of being onstage. Together we will delve into the history of theater arts, try our hand at acting, discover our creativity through playwriting, work as a team to explore and design technical elements of theater, and look at the different roles Drama plays in our career and media. Each year, scholars in grades 1st-5th also have the opportunity to audition for a Grammar School Play to be performed for the public.
Melia Scott
Mrs. Melia Scott serves as the grammar school drama teacher. She has been at ACE since it opened in 2014, as a 3rd grade teacher. Although she loved teaching third graders, she was overjoyed when given the opportunity to teach drama. She had her directorial debut in 2017 with the 3rd grade play, "European Explorers in the New World", which has become a beloved tradition at ACE. Mrs. Scott's love of drama and performing began as a child. In high school, she performed as part of the One Act Competition Team and had dreams of becoming a member of Saturday Night Live. She has used her humor and theatrical talents to teach hundreds of students throughout the years and is excited to spark the love of drama in the hearts of all our grammar students at ACE.
