Coach Josh McLendon


A native of Macon Georgia, Coach McLendon is in his 2nd year at the Academy for Classical Education and first as Athletic Director. He played high school football and baseball at Central Fellowship, lettering in each sport and went on to be a part of the Mercer Bears baseball program in 2001-2002. McLendon went on to get his Bachelor of Science in history from Georgia College and State University. Coach McLendon began his teaching career in 2005 and is in his 14th year as an educator. His head coaching career began at Monroe Academy in 2007 and continued at his alma mater of Central Fellowship from 2008-2017. McLendon’s career record as a head baseball coach is 153-130 with 6 playoff appearances. He also guided his teams to back to back region championships in 2016 and 2017 and two final four appearances. McLendon will be leading the ACE Gryphons into their first season of varsity region play in 2019.


During his career, Coach McLendon has coached 9 baseball players who went on to play at the collegiate level. McLendon has also been a successful fast-pitch softball coach. He was the head coach at Central Fellowship for 8 years from 2009-2016. During that time his teams compiled a 109-78 record, 4 playoff appearances, back to back region championships in 2014 and 2015 and were state champions in 2015. McLendon’s teams played for the state championship in three straight seasons. Coach McLendon has had 7 girls go on to play college softball that played in his program.  McLendon has most recently taken over the Gryphon softball program leading the team to the sweet 16 in their first year of varsity competition in 2018. The Lady Gryphons finished the 2018 season with a 20-12 record.


Coach Mclendon’s has been married to his wife Julie for 14 years. She is a 3rd grade teacher at ACE. They have 3 children: Jake (11) Jaymi Kate (9) and Jillian (2). He is looking forward to building a great foundation for years to come here at ACE.
